We’re all friends here. So once in a while, we have to have real talk. And now is one of those times.
Too many entrepreneurs spend their days complaining about their business — all the work they have to do, all the clients they have to deal with, and how it’s all just too hard. They think the problem has to do with business being draining, but nine times out of ten, something else is happening entirely.
Their goals are actually too small.
I know, I know — ambitious goals can feel very hard to reach. But the reality is, ambitious goals push you to your full potential. That’s why we’re sharing our three-step plan to help you set goals that are perfect for you.
1 – Set goals that matter
If your goals don’t matter to you, you’re not going to be motivated to reach them. Plain and simple. That’s why we always suggest setting goals that align with what really matters to you.
An easy way to determine if your goals matter is to check in on three key areas — your businesses, your passions, and your life. Make sure that your goals matter to your success in all three of those departments, and you’ll be on the right track.
2 – Keep obstacles in mind
It seems counterintuitive, but it’s important to think about your obstacles when you’re setting goals. Your goals need to be big and ambitious, but they also need to be realistic. If your goal is to make six figures before the new year, but by December you haven’t even created your product, it’s probably not going to happen.
Make sure to think through all of the logistics and any potential obstacles that might get in your way. There are only so many days in a year and only so much one person can accomplish. When you take obstaclese into consideration, you’ll be able to get way more done.
3 – Go 1% farther
You can do way more than you think you can. So when you’re creating your goals, it’s important to push yourself a little bit farther than you initially thought.
Next time you’re setting your goals, try this — set your goal, and then add 1% more. If your goal is to run 10 miles, set your goal to run 10.1. If you want to make $100, make that $101. That extra 1% doesn’t seem like much, but when you add it to your goals, it’ll push you farther than you ever thought possible.
Now… How to set your priorities straight and live a life you love?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔️Take a break.
Think about your life. What is really important to you? 🤔⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How would you like to live your life?⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Would you like to be #healthy and vital? Write it down. Would you like to have more fun with your family and feel the love? Write it down.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔️Think about the things you are doing every day. Write them down!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For example, wake up, eat breakfast, go to work…⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Highlight the tasks that you do daily that are in line with your priorities.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔️Run a test week.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now that your schedule is more open, it’s time to experience the #freedom of it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Try your new life for one week. See how it works out.⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Maybe you will notice that you should not have delegated some stuff, but some other stuff could actually be deleted from your life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Try this for a weekend to see in #practice what works for you, and then make appropriate changes.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It might take you a couple of weeks to clear the clutter from your life, testing what activities should go, stay, be delegated, or better organized, but it’s worth it!⠀⠀⠀
