Is Your Business Ready for Autumn?
For some, the summer felt entirely too long. For others, it flew by. Between stay-at-home orders, social distancing, and figuring out our new normal, summer was simply not what any of us expected.
The weather might still be warm, but believe it or not — fall is right around the corner. And if you’re a business owner, that means it’s time for you (and your business) to start preparing.
That’s why we’ve curated five ways to get your business ready to take on the fall, regardless of what that looks like this year.
1. Let Yourself Dream
For most businesses, the year starts in January. But for a select few, like those in education, the year, “begins” in August. There’s always a chance for a new beginning if you need it. And the reality is — it’s never too late to dream big for your business. What if the start of the fall was your chance to do just that?
Here’s our recommendation: give yourself time to sit down, journal, and dream big for your business. Ask yourself these questions:
- What is an ambitious goal I want to reach for this fall?
- What wins for my business would make me want to celebrate?
- If I pictured my business this time next year, what would it look like?
Then, make a plan to make those dreams a reality. You might be surprised what the mental reset of dreaming big does for your company.

2. Revisit Your Social Media Colors
Cool blues and rich pastels look beautiful on your Instagram feed in the summer. But the fall is all about pumpkins and coffee, not beach balls and margaritas.
With fall quickly approaching, your audience is ready to curl up under a blanket and stay cozy inside. Take some time to adjust your social media game to give your audience ALL the Pumpkin Spice Latte vibes (yes, we went there).

3. Map Out Your Offers
The start of a new season is a great opportunity to offer your customers something new. Plus — the fall is chock full of excuses to do promotions, sales, and special offers for your audience. But don’t let these dates sneak up on you. Mark your calendars and don’t miss these chances to increase traffic to your website…
- August – Back to School
- September – Labor Day Weekend
- October – Halloween
- October – Day of the Dead
- November – Thanksgiving

4. Plan a Virtual Event
One of the biggest lies of 2020 is that events are dead.
False. Events just look different now. But the principals are still very much the same.
Virtual events are a great way to engage your audience and drive traffic to your website, sales pages, and email lists. A few of our favorite virtual events right now are:
- Webinars – Deliver value to your audience when you conduct a webinar
- Virtual Coffee Chats – Conduct a q&a with your audience or host a virtual workspace over coffee
- Virtual Happy Hours – Engage your audience with a networking event like a virtual happy hour

5. Make Revenue Projections
Real talk. Most businesses are doing it all wrong. They wait until Q4 to make revenue projections and are left scrambling when they realize they’re going to fall short of their goals.
Don’t do it.
Take an inventory of your revenue now and make a plan. Are you on track to meet your revenue goals? Fantastic. Are you falling behind? That’s fine, too. At least you still have several months to get back on track. Don’t be like other businesses and get overwhelmed in Q4 by the gap in your revenue. Make a plan now to meet your goals later. Trust us — this will make your Q4 much, much easier.
